Learn All the Ways Veneers Can Enhance Your Smile

Whether you live in the hills of Hollywood or in a charming rural town like Oak Glen the desire to have a beautiful, dazzling smile is something everyone wants, but few of us come by naturally. When most of us mere mortals look in the mirror we can always find something we wish we could change about our smile. If only it were that easy. Well, guess what? It can be with dental veneers.

In this blog, Dr. Emmanuel Aguilar at American Dental Clinic unpacks this game-changing cosmetic dentistry procedure so that you can enhance your smile and seemingly wish away your smile flaws.

Dental veneers explained

Veneers are the ultimate cover-up and are made from materials that mimic your natural teeth. It should come as no surprise that veneers can trace its roots to Hollywood. In the 1920s California dentist Charles L. Pincus, DDS, addressed smile flaws for stars like James Dean, Shirley Temple, and Judy Garland.

Here at American Dental Clinic, we offer our porcelain veneers to our patients. The process takes two to three visits. Initially, we’ll meet with you to learn about your goals and to determine if you are a good candidate for veneers. We’ll do a thorough examination and X-rays, if needed, to ensure your gums, teeth, and jaw are healthy and strong. If everything checks out, we’ll take an impression of the tooth or teeth you wish to transform. We’ll then send the impressions to a dental lab, which will fabricate your veneers.

The next step is to prep your teeth by removing a thin layer of enamel to make room for the veneer. The goal is to make sure your veneer is placed perfectly so that they blend in with your natural teeth. After your teeth are prepped you’ll be sent home with a temporary veneer. When the veneer comes back from the lab you’ll come back in for your final appointment where we switch the temporary for the permanent veneer and you finally get that smile you always wanted.

Full mouth rehabilitation and small tweaks

What’s great about veneers is that it’s so versatile that whether you are embarking on a full mouth reconstruction for a complete smile transformation or just want to tackle a few minor issues with your teeth it’s a perfect tool. The options are endless and veneers are so durable that you’ll be smiling for many years to come.

Worn chipped or cracked teeth

With porcelain veneers, you can say goodbye to tooth damage such as worn, cracked, and chipped teeth. This handy tool is both the ultimate cover-up and an amazing do-over. The only thing you’ll regret is not doing it sooner.

Picket fence, gapped teeth

Veneers can even fix uneven gaps between your teeth that create that picket fence look. Do you know the one that makes it hard for people not to stare? Porcelain veneers are bonded to the front of gapped teeth, erasing that picket fence effect and replacing it with beautiful, even-spaced teeth. Plus they look so natural you’ll forget what the teeth looked like before.

Unevenly sized or misshapen teeth

Similarly, veneers can address those annoyingly misshapen and odd-sized teeth. Once you get your smile re-do people will be staring, but not because of your teeth flaws. This time they won’t be able to look away because of your dazzling, beautiful smile. I think you’ll be able to deal with that just fine.

Discolored, stained teeth

And as if these smile enhancements weren’t enough, porcelain veneers can also fix discolored and stained teeth. And nothing says confidence like a beautiful white smile. It doesn’t matter whether your teeths’ discoloration issues are a result of a root canal treatment, trauma, excessive fluoride, or even medications like tetracycline. The veneers will cover them up and we won’t tell if you don’t tell.

If you think your smile can use a do-over make an appointment for a consultation at American Dental Clinic in San Diego to see if veneers are right for you. Use our online booking tool or call today at 858-216-4662.
